1. Analysts See New Goods Boosting Children's Place Profits [2003-10-10] - NEW YORK -- Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. (NasdaqNM:PLCE - News) shares jumped more than 28% Thursday as better-than-expected September sales and third-quarter guidance suggest the company is reversing its recent slump, according to analysts. "Clearly it looks like their sales and margin recovery are proceeding more rapidly than expected," Pacific Growth Equities analyst Dawn Stoner said in a telephone interview.


2. Footstar Sept Same-Store Sales Fell 1.5% [2003-10-10] - WEST NYACK, N.Y. (Dow Jones)--Footstar Inc.'s September same-store sales declined 1.5% and total sales fell 13.7%, reflecting ongoing business trends. The declines are consistent with the guidance released last month.

Limited Brands/Sales: 35-Week Same-Store Sales Up 2% [2003-10-10] - COLUMBUS, Ohio (Dow Jones)--Limited Brands Inc.'s September same-store sales rose 8%, thanks to increases in all the company's units. The growth was better than the 1.3% decline that analysts were expecting. In a press release Thursday, the retailer said total sales for the five weeks ended Oct. 5 rose to $714.4 million from 642.5 million a year ago.
